Maybe you love plants, or maybe you have never thought about them, there are a few that everyone should keep close. They are all beneficial in a medicinal way but each one is very different from all the others. This essay will give you a start for an herbal first aid kit.
Lavender is one of the most well known and widely used herbs. Lavender calms people with it’s smell or taste. Try smelling it some time when you are tense, the tension will melt off your shoulders. Lavender induces sleep and has been found to inhibit bacterial growth. The smell is used in many products that are used on babies as it is thought to calm them. Lavender is a hardy plant in a yard once established.
Everyone has heard of Rosemary, The reason that you hear about it is that it has been used for all time as a seasoning, a medication, and as good luck for the people who grew it and carried it. As a spice Rosemary has many benefits for the people who ate it, not only the enhancement of the taste but it has many beneficial affects on the immune system and so when someone is ill and you cook for them, rosemary as a spice in their soup will work on their taste buds and their immune system and when the soup is hot, the rosemary is inhaled and eaten so it works both ways. Rosemary is also know to bring good luck and to protect a house when it is planted by the gate.
The next one is lemon balm. This is a mint and will grow in a pot in the sun. It is a good source of vitamin C. For tea when you are sick or have been around others that are sick to protect you from getting their bug. The leaves can be applied as a poultice by wetting them with water and apply directly on the affected area where a cold sore is coming in on the lips or genitals to provide relief from the pain and encourage healing. The smell is beneficial and when drinking a tea with lemon balm in it, immediately it makes you feel relieved, more relaxed and able to cope. It is believed to enhance the immune system. Lemon Balm is carried on a person to attack love.
The first and most important plant that everyone should have immediate access to is the Aloe Vera plant. It should be within the area of the kitchen. The leaves have stickers on them on either side and you can remove them with a kitchen knife. The gooey stuff inside can heal a burn when used immediately. Remove the stickers and separate the halves of the leaf. This can be placed directly on a burn and held in place with tape. Leave on as long as possible. There are studies that claim that this plant can reduce the severity of a burn when applied immediately and left on. Some tissue damage is so immediate that the damage occurs too fast but the extract of this plant does help. The gooey stuff can be scraped out of the skin of the leaf and mixed with vitamin C or vitamin E as a preservative and then refrigerate it in anticipation of sunburns at the beginning of summer. Cool Aloe Vera is such a blessing on a hot day. The skin loves it! As a plant Aloe is thought to be protective (common with plants that have stickers) and to drive away evil.
These are four plants that should move in with you. They can all be grown inside with a sunny window and they can be replaced at the local home improvement store all year round if they do die. These plants have been used by cook, doctors, and shaman throughout history. All of them are good for you and you should have them around your home to keep you well. These are the plants that no one should do without, but if you feel inspired there are more herbs and other plants at the store that you would enjoy.

I have the aloe vera plant as well and I use it constantly as a sunscreen.Unfortunately i have tried repeatedly to grow Rosemary and it always dies.I have tried it from seed and from sapling. Nothing works. Do you have any tips for growing Rosemary?
